The Big Reveal

Bham FOOD+Culture’s plans, including its annual festival, were revealed at Pepper Place on October 13, 2022. And Chef Tyler Lyne of 1856 - Culinary Residence was a featured chef sharing fare with invited guests of Casarecce Pasta and Italian Sausage and a fall dessert, Pumpkin Pate Choux of pumpkin mousse and salted caramel. He was representing Auburn as well as Birmingham, 1856 - Culinary Residence and Chef Lyne and his chef, wife, Jennifer's Tasting TBL in Birmingham.

Chef Tyler was announced from the stage by Hans van der Reijden, Founder and CEO of Ithaka Hospitality Partners, as the first chef-in-residence at Auburn's 1856 – Culinary Residence to large appaluse from the crowd. Van der Reijdenalso shared the opening of the Tony & Libba Rane Culinary Science Center at Auburn University. “It’s sensational, a game changer, first of its kind anywhere in the world, state of the art facility, teaching hotel in the Laurel Hotel & Spa, and teaching restaurant 1856 – Culinary Residence.” The restaurant is also Founding Member Restaurant Auburn Restaurants and Auburn Restaurants App, as is the hotel’s Rooftop Lounge and Hey Day Market Food Hall & Gathering Place and many of its eateries. “Here the future leaders of hospitality are now being educated. “It goes beyond football lines, beyond Auburn and Alabama, it is great for our state and great for our country.”

Bham FOOD+Culture’s Festival will be held annually beginning in October 2023.
